Gennifer Choldenko - author

Gennifer Choldenko is the spirited speaker and often-requested author of the Newbery Honor book Al Capone Does My Shirts. The engaging sequel, Al Capone Shines My Shoes, was released in the fall of 2009. Her earlier books, Notes from a Liar and Her Dog and If a Tree Falls at Lunch Period are popular with readers in grades 4 through 9. Gennifer is the author of three picture books as well; she enjoys speaking with children in the primary grades. Her rapport with students and her attention to their questions has been remarked upon by many administrators.

At conferences, Gennifer discusses the writing process and how she researches her books. Readers have many questions about the Al Capone books and her presentations on that topic are lively and intriguing.
