As a kid, Jeremy Tankard warmed to artwork far more quickly than he did to wordsand he can ignite in even the most reluctant reader a sense of awe about how books have changed his life. Jeremy, like Mo Willems, likes to demonstrate that everyone can draw, and he breaks down common objects into shapes and lines simple enough that even beginners can feel confident with a marker or paintbrush. As his recent Grumpy Bird (just named a Los Angeles Times Favorite Children’s Book of 2007; published by Scholastic) attests, there’s more than one way to get from point A to point B, whether one is traveling or drawing. In April 2008, Jeremy will release Me Hungry! (Candlewick), the tale of a cave boy.
