What is the mission of Winding Oak?

The individuals who make up Winding Oak believe in something that is both simple and utterly profound: that by putting children and high-quality books together, we can change the world.

Have you had the chance to see what happens when children get their hands on a book with which they fall in love? It does change their life. Books open kids’ eyes to the possibilities of big ideas, alternate choices, new worlds, people who are different than they are. Books inspire them to dream great dreams. Books challenge them to do more, learn more, and explore more. Books send tomorrow’s leaders down a path of building a better future.

That’s why we do what we do. It’s often hard. There are a lot of other things out there to distract today’s kids. Carving out the quiet time to curl up with a good book isn’t easy for this over-scheduled generation. But at Winding Oak, we believe it’s worth fighting to give them that chance. So we keep working to change the world, one special book in the hands of one special kid at a time.

What does Winding Oak do to accomplish this goal?

Winding Oak Literary Services focuses on putting high-quality children’s books into the hands of children who will love them. We offer our author, illustrator, and publisher clients a range of services: marketing and promotional work, web site design, event bookings, and individualized consulting. We believe we are carving out new ground. There are other entities and individuals who offer some of our services. We respect those we know who work hard to bring children and books together. But we don’t know of anyone else who offers the complete range of services that we do.
