As marketing director for several high-profile Minnesota publishers, Lisa Bullard helped to promote hundreds of authors and their books during her sixteen years in the publishing industry. Lisa is also a published children's book author. She combines these two career threads by working as a marketing specialist for Winding Oak's team of “Acorns.”

Lisa provides marketing plans and brainstorms with our clients to put together a reasonable, cost-effective approach to promoting themselves and their books. Her extensive experience in publishing helps her zero in on what works. An experienced copywriter, she writes articles for publication and works with authors and companies to create more effective website language.

Terri Evans Terri Evans

Terri is a high school media specialist, having extensive experience as a high school English, speech, and theater teacher. An avid reader, she facilitates and participates in several book clubs. She is particularly proud of her summer reading program, involving 3,200 students in reading one book, augmented by curricular tie-ins and author visits.

Terri has written teaching guides for Patrick Ness, Gene Luen Yang, Katherine Applegate, Nina LaCour, Karen Blumenthal, and Anita Silvey. After carefully reading each book, she applies her knowledge of reading, literacy, and multiple disciplines to each guide she prepares.

Heidi Grosch Heidi Grosch

Heidi Haavan Grosch spends her days inspiring the teachers of tomorrow at Nord University in Levanger, Norway and in a variety of projects combining literature and play in English language learning. She has a BA in psychology and theater, a masters degree in English and other foreign languages, and an extensive background in interactive education in schools and writing of all sorts. She embraces the Norwegian countryside in her role as Christmas tree and wild flower seed farmer, and enjoys reading and sharing literature from English speaking countries across the globe.

As a presentation coach, in a two-hour Skype session, Heidi will brainstorm with you to create the class or conference program with which you’ll feel comfortable and look forward to presenting! Your audiences will respond to your energy and your message … and word-of-mouth recommendations will pass from teacher to event organizer.

As a readers' theater playwright, Heidi has years of experience creating an exciting readers' theater script out of picture books, early chapter books, middle grade novels, and young adult books. Wordless books are a challenge for readers' theater, but not impossible!

Melanie Heuiser Hill Melanie Heuiser Hill

Melanie is a writer and reader. She's also a mother, knitter, baker, pastor, etc. She has an MFA from Hamline University in Writing for Children. Her favorite thing in the world is to read to children. She can talk for a long, long time about books. Melanie writes the Red Reading Boots column for Bookology magazine.

Melanie provides social media management for Winding Oak clients. She is also a booktalker and delights in coming up with specialized lists of books across disciplines and genres, as well as finding just the right book for a particular reader. She is especially interested in read-alouds.

Marsha Qualey Maurna Rome, MA, NBCT

Maurna is a National Board Certified elementary teacher, currently reading, writing, learning and growing with incredible 4th and 5th graders at Evergreen Park World Cultures Community School in Brooklyn Park. She is passionate about helping kids develop a love of reading by sharing her enthusiasm for great books. Maurna also shares ideas, insights, and inspirations from her classroom in a monthly column called Teach it Forward, published in Bookology magazine.

Maurna develops teaching ideas for preschool and elementary school educators, focusing on books that are rich in learning and discussion possibilities. She believes that the right books can not only spark imagination, but they can fulfill Common Core requirements with finesse and a high level of interest for students.
